Family Start aims to improve and add to the strengths that already exist within families.

The service is delivered to families in a way that respects cultural needs and values and is child-centered, family-focused and strength-based.

Included as part of the guidance and advice is the delivery of the Born to Learn/Ahuru Mowai programme that provides insight into children's development.

Qualified Whanau Kaitiaki / Family Support workers provide guidance and advice to families to improve overall well-being in areas of: housing, budgeting, parenting skills, accessing support within the local community relationship conflict and any other matters which are important to families.

The aim of Family Start is to improve a family's overall circumstances so that the children get the best possible start in life.
